According to the Tallahassee Democrat , Tarron Addison, 20, of Madison, was arrested Thursday and charged with the attempted murder of Tim Pruitt, Florida State football player Mario Pender’s half-brother.

The incident occurred at the Seminole Ridge apartment complex on Dec. 22, and police were called to the scene at 5:43 p.m. after Pruitt had been taken to the hospital.

The situation started with Ira Denson’s use of Pender’s missing debit card. Denson, who is a freshman football player that didn’t see the field due to injury and conditioning issues, used it several times and Pender said he went to his apartment to approach him about the situation.

Denson wasn’t home, so Pender took a pair of his shoes as “collateral” and then called him, informing him that he took the shoes and wanted his money back. Denson, who was in Madison at the time, told him he would return to Tallahassee to both repay him and retrieve his shoes.

Later that day, at 5:32 p.m., Denson texted Pender to inform him that he would be coming by his apartment to give him the money. Pruitt went down to exchange the items with Denson and another man, who was driving a white PT Cruiser. Denson was in the passenger seat. According to Pender, Pruitt began reprimanding Denson for stealing the money and then placed the shoes in the trunk. Pender said that when the car started to leave, a gun was drawn out the driver side window and shoot multiple times towards Pruitt and Pender. Pruitt was shot in the head, entering through his left ear and becoming lodged behind his eye, though he did survive.

According to the student directory, Denson is still enrolled at the university, but did not travel with the football team to the national championship in Pasadena, which occurred two weeks after the incident. Pender, a redshirt sophomore who missed 2013 due to academic ineligibility, traveled with the team and practiced in Thursday’s fourth-quarter drills in addition to qualifying for Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2013 semester.

Neither one of the players have played a down for Florida State yet.

Tallahassee Police Department booking records show that Addison is charged with premeditated murder, though others show a charge of attempted.

FSU running back Delmarick "Mario" Pender told Tallahassee police his credit card was stolen from the football team’s locker room, according to court documents.

Pender said his card was used three times: once at a gas station for , another time at Champs for 4.36, and a third time at a Foot Locker for 2. Pender said all purchases occurred on Dec. 19, court documents said.

A surveillance video from the Champs location shows Denson, 18, and Shaquille Walden at the store.

The video shows Walden pay for the shoes with Pender’s card while Denson stood next to him, court documents said.

Denson told police he was present at the time of the purchase but "merely told Walden he wanted to buy the shoes but would do so at a later date."

Denson then admitted he knew the card belonged to Pender but said he did not know where Walden had gotten the card, court documents said.

Walden told police Denson gave him Pender’s card. Walden then volunteered to buy the shoes with Pender’s card for Denson. He said he immediately gave Denson the shoes, which were meant to be a gift for Denson’s father, after they left the store.

The probable-cause statement says Walden is not affiliated with FSU athletics and had no access to the locker room.

Denson, it says, was injured at the time and was only allowed to practice for a short time each day. Denson would leave practice early and go to the locker room before the other players, court documents said.

Denson, 18, posted bail shortly after 7:30 a.m.

A Florida State University football player linked to a December shooting was arrested Tuesday in a related case in which he’s accused of stealing a teammate’s credit card and using it to buy shoes.

Ira Denson, 18, is now facing charges of fraudulent use of a credit card and petty theft after his teammate, running back Delmarick “Mario” Pender, told Tallahassee police his credit card was stolen from the football team’s locker room in December.

Denson, an offensive lineman who was redshirted this past year as a freshman, had not been with the team since he was involved in the shooting Dec. 22 that left one man with a head wound and another facing a charge of attempted murder. Head coach Jimbo Fisher announced Wednesday that Denson would not rejoin the team.

On Dec. 19, Pender’s card was used three times for nearly 0 at an area gas station, a Foot Locker and a Champs. Surveillance video from Champs showed Shaquille Walden, 18, of Tallahassee, using the card to buy a pair of shoes with Denson standing next to him, court documents said.

Denson, who was brought in to meet with police Dec. 23 regarding the shooting, told police he knew the card was Pender’s but didn’t know where Walden got it, court documents said.

Walden, on the other hand, told police he volunteered to buy the shoes for Denson after Denson gave him Pender’s card. When they left the store, Walden handed the shoes to Denson, who said they were a gift for his father.

Denson was bailed out of the Leon County Jail on Tuesday morning.

Denson and Walden are reported to be involved in a similar scheme involving Pender’s credit card at a Foot Action store in Governor’s Square mall the same day they were at Champs.

A clerk told police Walden entered the store and first asked her whether he would have to enter a PIN number if he used a credit card. She said he wouldn’t.

A little bit later, Walden walked up to the register with more than 0 worth of items while Denson again stood next to him. Walden told the clerk his name was Mario after she asked for ID.

Walden was arrested on a charge of grand theft Jan. 10 for that incident and was bailed out of the Leon County Jail the next day.

Walden is not affiliated with FSU athletics and had no access to the locker room, court documents said.

Denson was injured at the time and only practiced for a short time each day as the team prepared for the BCS national championship game in January. He would leave practice early and would go to the locker room, where the lockers were not locked, before the other players, court documents said.

The situation involving Pender and Denson escalated to an argument, then a shooting two days after Pender reported the theft of his credit card to police.

On Dec. 22, Pender, believing Denson had stolen his credit card, went to Denson’s room and took a pair of his shoes. When Pender demanded he get the money back Denson had stolen from him, Denson said he would meet Pender at his residence at Seminole Ridge Apartments later that day to exchange the money and the shoes.

That exchange ended with Pender’s half brother, Tim Pruitt, suffering a gunshot wound to the head. Pender said he saw Tarron Addison, 20, of Madison, shoot at Pruitt three to four times from the front seat of a car while Denson was in the passenger seat.

Addison now faces a charge of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently in the Leon County Jail.

Pender and Denson were members of the FSU football team last season, but neither has played in a game yet for the Seminoles. Neither player traveled with the team to Pasadena, Calif., for the BCS national championship game in January.

Pender, who was one of the nation’s top running backs as a senior at Cape Coral’s Island Coast High, was redshirted as a freshman in 2012. He was ruled academically ineligible in 2013 but has returned to the team and is expected to compete for playing time this spring.

Denson signed with FSU in 2013 and was redshirted as a freshman. The Madison County native was one of the nation’s top 10 offensive guard prospects, according to some recruiting services.

— PERSONAL: Florida State continued to mine the talent-rich Cowboys’ program, landing Denson who was a two-way star on the line but is tabbed to play on the offensive line for the Seminoles…a late-bloomer on the recruiting scene, he is universally considered one of the top 10 offensive guard prospects in the nation…he helped lead the Cowboys to a 12-2 record as a senior and a trip to the FHSAA 3A state championship game…has earned 4-star rankings from ESPN, Rivals, PrepStar and Scout… participated in the Under Armour All-American Bowl…committed to the `Noles in May and stayed true to his word, despite the pursuit and offers from Miami, Ole Miss, South Florida, Nebraska, South Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee, among others.
