At 13 Jimmy boyd recorded this song at the urging of Columbia records. Little did they know how popular ir would become in the comming years until it blossomed into the Chirstmas classic we know today.
Jimmy boyd passed away this year at the age of 70. Born dirt poor in the south his singing ablity kept him fed until he signed onto columbia.
After hearing this song from the original 78 RPM you can tell how modern reissues fai to capture the original recording. I can;t tell the last time i could hear Jimmy Beathing between his pharses.
I did minimum sound flitering i supect that modern reissues use the wrong EQ and is heavily compresses :(. But here it is in its original glory.

Columbia 152-1, 1952. Played on my "new" Elac Miracord 10H (made in Germany in 1963ish). I really dig this record changer. Found it at an estate sale a couple months ago for 30 smackers. It just needed some lube and a few adjustments.

Operation Santa Needs Your Help!
Operation Santa needs Wakulla’s help. Currently 163 families totaling more than 600 people have been identified for this year’s list. As you prepare for Christmas, and empty out closets and go through your children’s’ toy boxes please keep in mind that someone might love to see that gently worn toy or clothing under their Christmas tree.

… Adopt a family or two or three.
… Refer a family who needs help. (Apps are @ WCSO)
… Encourage family, friends and co-workers to join together to adopt a family.
… Volunteer at the Community Center; we have many jobs that need helping hands and you’ll find yourself surrounded by friends.
Donate funds for our volunteers to buy needed items not donated.
Ask your youth group, church family or civic organization to volunteer and assist in collecting needed items.
Weekend hours are available for youth activity involvement.

Wakulla County, FL – Local families in need will be getting a chance to shop for free November 18th- November 23rd.
Wakulla County’s Operation Santa has already approved over 300 families to shop for items donated by the community. Out of those families, one-hundred will be selected for the adopt-a-family holiday program. On December 14th, the families will come back to the Wakulla Community Center to pick up brand new gifts and food.
